Up to 40% of contacts of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in meat factories have not been contacted. The figures raise significant concerns about the effectiveness of the contact tracing system, which is designed to help curb the spread of the virus, according to one TD.
Minister for Health Simon Harris confirmed in the Dáil last night that only 60-70% of close contacts of confirmed cases in meat plants have been contacted.
He said that "contact and communication issues" were the reason some people were not contacted. Independent TD Denis Naughten has said that the figures raise a significant issue around how the contact tracing system operates.
