Leading expert infectious diseases Professor McConkey has warned that Ireland cannot take its success in bringing Covid-19 under control for granted.
Speaking on RTÉ's Today with Sarah McInerney, Prof McConkey said that many organised countries such as Great Britain have not got to where Ireland is at present overcoming the pandemic and are actually getting worse every day.
Prof McConkey, who is Head of the Department of International Health and Tropical Medicine at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, warned that the uptake of face coverings on public transport and in shops has not been as high as other public health interventions.
