Matt Hancock said there was “plenty of good reasons” to give covid jabs to teenagers after medical regulators announced the Pfizer vaccine had been approved for use for those 12 to 15-year-olds.
Previously the jab was only approved for use in all adults over the age of 18 and unpaid carers or clinically vulnerable people aged 16 and 17.Nicola Sturgeon said last week the announcement made her "heart sing" but a final decision on whether to extend the vaccination programme to those under-16 has yet to be made.
The Scottish Government has so far followed the majority of advice issued by the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) and is expected to defer again to the group's judgement when it comes to jabs for kids.
