'Vigilante' street patrol group confronted members of the public and broke covid rules, police say

Oldham -based Failsworth Street Patrol have been warned they risk 'straying into vigilantism' and could be putting themselves and others 'at risk'.

The warning came as police look into how a suspected car thief was 'detained'But the group have since hit back at the allegations saying volunteers have been involved in a an 'endless list' of positive incidents, including helping to save a man's life when he was found collapsed in sub-zero conditions.

As the Manchester Evening News reported on Thursday FSP, which describes itself as a 'community driven service' which aims to 'deter crime', has vowed to continue 'as long as we have the residents on our side'.
