An international team of scientists will head to the Chinese city of Wuhan on a mission to explore the origins of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic which swept the globe.
The international mission will be led by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and is expected to go to China in the first week of January to investigate where the virus that sparked the pandemic began.
The source of the virus has caused tensions, most notably with the United States, with Donald Trump's administration accusing China of having hidden the outbreak's extent, and even concealing the initial outbreak.
The US called for a "transparent" WHO-led investigation and criticised its terms, which allowed Chinese scientists to do the first phase of preliminary research.
