A Chinese doctor who claims to have discovered coronavirus in disease-stricken Wuhan has recalled her first encounter with the deadly disease.
Dr Zhang Jixian has been hailed in China as the first person to report the virus to authorities in December 2019. The respiratory and critical care doctor at the Hubei Provincial Hospital in Wuhan published a detail account of the outbreak with China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency.
Speaking through a surgical face mask, Dr Zhang said the first coronavirus patients had been an elderly husband and wife. Dr Zhang said the first patient, an elderly lady, had a fever, cough and trouble breathing, symptoms which have become synonymous with deadly Covid-19.
