Young Scots NHS nurse tragically dies hours after giving birth to first baby

A young Scots nurse has died just hours after giving birth, her heartbroken fiancee has revealed. Shannon Napier, 24, an NHS nurse from Fife, passed away on Friday after giving birth to baby Abbie.

Now partner Jordan Burt has been left devastated by the sudden death as he looks after their new baby alone. He honoured the "one in a million" medical hero with an emotional statement on Facebook on their 11th anniversary together.

It is not known the cause of Shannon's death. Jordan, a sports journalist, now plans to give her "the biggest round of applause" on Thursday night when Scotland claps for its carers on the front line of the  coronavirus  crisis.
