There has been a further significant reduction in the number of patients with Covid-19 in hospital. According to the HSE, there were 1,100 patients with the virus in hospital last night.
That is down by 112 patients, compared with this time yesterday morning. The number of patients in intensive care with the disease has also reduced by three to 173.
St James's Hospital in Dublin is caring for 99 patients with Covid-19, the largest number in the country. Elsewhere in Dublin, there are 98 patients at the Mater and 74 at Connolly Hospital with the illness.
The number of adult ICU beds free in hospitals around the country has also increased to 48. Last night, the Department of Health reported six further Covid-related deaths and 829 new cases
