There were 13 incidents of suspected breaches of travel regulations in the first nine days of Level 5 Covid-19 restrictions, with files sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions, according to An Garda Síochána.
One file has been sent to the DPP in relation to the non-wearing of face coverings. An Garda Síochána has operated 132 checkpoints a day on major roads since Level 5 restrictions were introduced on 22 October, as well as around a thousand on secondary and minor roads.
Gardaí say they have also been conducting checks of retail premises to ensure they are complying with public health regulations.
