An unbelievable IT error saw 16,000 Brits not told they had been exposed to coronavirus after health chief's Excel spreadsheet maxed out.
Public Health England admitted they had missed 15,841 cases from their tally. But today it has been revealed that the source of the error was not a complex data failure.
Instead the source of the potentially deadly data loss was because 15,841 cases had failed to upload between September 25 and October 2 as an Excel spreadsheet reached its maximum size.
It's understood the glitch was caused by officials using an outdated Excel spreadsheet format which was not capable of displaying all the lines of data.
