There are currently 17 people in public hospitals with confirmed Covid-19, an increase of one on the previous day. Six of those 17 people are currently in ICU.
And there are 90 people with suspected cases of the virus being treated in hospital. The numbers of people in hospital with Covid 19 remains low in comparision with the numbers reported at an earlier stage of the pandemic.
However 136 new cases of the virus were reported yesterday. Speaking at the NPHET briefing last night, Professor Phillip Nolan said there is a sustained, high level of new cases being confirmed every day and that the pattern has changed from large outbreaks in specific settings to smaller outbreaks that are widely distributed.
