319 students at Templemore to be sworn in as gardaí

A total of 319 students, some of whom have only been in training in the Garda College in Templemore for the last few weeks, are to be sworn in as gardaí and assigned to stations all over the country Garda Headquarters says the most recent intake will work only in the stations.

Their tutors and instructors - 124 gardaí, sergeants and inspectors - are also being deployed to front line policing in response to Covid-19 The Garda College will effectively close on a temporary basis to be used only for limited firearms training, but has been offered to the HSE as a medical facility.
