Another 324 people have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus. The total number of people who have died in hospitals, care homes and the wider community with the virus as risen to 39, 369.
In the 24-hour period up to 9am on Tuesday, 135,643 tests were carried out or dispatched with 1,613 positive results. A total of 4,615,146 tests have now been carried out with 277,985 cases confirmed positive.
Earlier NHS England announced 143 new deaths of people who tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 26,865.
Nineteen of the deaths occurred on Monday, 34 on Sunday and 20 on Saturday. The figures also show 58 of the new deaths took place between May 5 and May 29,
