OTTAWA -- On the day Ontario set a new single-day record for COVID-19 cases, there are 80 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa. Public Health Ontario reports 1,042 cases of COVID-19 across the province, the first time the number of cases of COVID-19 has surpassed 1,000 cases.
Health Minister Christine Elliott says there are 309 new cases in Toronto, 289 in Peel and 117 in York Region. The record number of COVID-19 cases in Ontario comes two weeks after Thanksgiving.
Sunday is the third straight day the number of COVID-19 cases in Ottawa has surpassed 80. The 80 new cases on Sunday follows 90 new cases of COVID-19 on Saturday and 88 new cases on Friday.
