AP (6/14, Cassidy) reports on how some advocates for Americans with visual impairments are concerned about moves to mail-in ballots during the coronavirus pandemic, because of the potential privacy issues around physical paper ballots for Americans with visual impairments.
Already, advocates “have filed legal actions in Michigan, New York and Pennsylvania seeking access to systems already in place to deliver ballots electronically to military and overseas voters.” The AP adds, “Blind voters could then use their own computers and assistive technology to read and complete their ballots themselves.” Approximately seven million US residents have a visual disability, “and advocates worry that some might choose to skip voting altogether this year.
