WASHINGTON : National carrier Air India would run seven non-scheduled commercial flights from the US to India to bring back hundreds of Indian nationals, who could not return home due to COVID-19 related international travel restrictions.
Due to the limited number of seats available, the Indian Embassy in Washington said it will run a computerised draw of lots to identify names of the Indian nationals for the special seven flights back home.
The Indian government is running one of the biggest evacuation exercise named Vande Bharat Mission to bring back stranded Indians from abroad.
As part of the plan, Air India will run 64 flights from May 7 to May 13 to bring back around 15,000 Indian nationals stranded abroad amid the COVID-19-induced
