An 11 year-old has become one of the youngest victims of COVID-19 in the UK. Health officials in England reported 823 new deaths on Saturday, with victims aged between 11 and 102, NHS England said.

Among those who lost their lives, 33 had no known underlying health conditions - they were aged between 29 and 94. The deaths include 208 in London, 197 in the North West of England, and 165 in the Midlands.

The latest figures bring the total number of deaths in England to 8,937. The death toll is expected to pass 10,000 over the Easter weekend.

The number of people who have died with COVID-19 across Britain is now 9,875 - a leap of 917 deaths in a 24 hour period. In the last 48 hours, almost 2,000 people in the UK have now died in hospital
