Aston Villa’s Premier League survival hopes could be in tatters after the West Midlands mayor and police chief’s comments that playing games at Villa Park may not be possible.

The Birmingham club are currently second bottom in the Premier League table, two points from safety after a poor return to the top flight.

Villa suffered a 4-0 reverse at Leicester City in what was the final game played before the league was postponed due to coronavirus more than two months ago.

Plans under ‘Project Restart’ are now gathering momentum, though, with the remaining 92 Premier League games set to be played if the government gives the green light to do so.
