A greyhound called Im Sophie made history today as the winner of the very first competitive sporting contest in the UK since lockdown restrictions were eased.
The Gerry Ballentine-trained four-year-old stormed out trap three this morning at the 10.21am race at Perry Barr in Birmingham - aptly named the ‘Arc Thanks to NHS and Key Workers’ race - to take the win at an outside price of 6/1.
Today's historic return to action will see a bumper twelve tracks across the country host meetings from 10.30am until 9.30pm, with 120 races in total and 720 greyhounds across the country competing throughout the day - that continues every day of the week.
