A bizarre video has shown a huge sinkhole opening up on a river, swallowing everything in its path. The chilling footage was taken in Bomet County in Kenya after heavy rainfall and flooding wreaked havoc across the region.

The video starts with a hole opening up near the shore of a flooded river as locals scream in panic. Reeds and other shrubbery then begin to get sucked in.

When they reach the sinkhole, they get dragged into the water and disappear from view. It is not clear exactly where the footage was taken but it emerged on YouTube on April 30 with dozens of viewers voicing their shock at what was shown. “I would definitely not get too close to that,” one wrote. “All of these people are lucky the worse outcome didn't happen.” Another
