B.C. provincial health officer Dr. Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix are expected to introduce new measures to curb the spread of the COVID-19 Omicron variant in a news conference on Friday afternoon.

The 1 p.m. PT news conference will be carried live on BC1, 980 CKNW, and here on the Global BC website, as cases continue to surge in the province and around the world.

As part of the changes, the province will be putting a 50 per cent capacity on venues with 1,000 seats or more. The capacity changes will come into effect on Monday.

The venues and organizations will be responsible for informing the public how they will reimburse tickets that can no longer be used.
