A baby aged just 29 days has become one of the world's youngest coronavirus victims. The newborn, from Batangas, a province in the Philippines, died in hospital from sepsis after suffering breathing difficulties.
During a televised briefing, Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said: " The youngest fatality for COVID-19 is a 29-day-old from Batangas. "He died because of late onset sepsis due to severe respiratory infection." Prior to the baby boy's death, the youngest coronavirus victim from the Philippines was a 7-year-old girl from Pangasinan who died due to hypovolemic shock caused by acute gastroenteritis and severe dehydration.
