Barcelona have been told by former player Javier Mascherano to reunite Neymar and Lionel Messi. In 2017, the Catalan club let the Brazil international leave for Paris St-Germain in controversial circumstances after the French outfit paid his release clause, Barca desperately pleaded with La Liga to block the transfer.

However, they were powerless after PSG met his buyout clause and before the end of the summer Neymar was the world's most expensive player.

It has left bad blood between the two clubs, with the Spanish side even suing Neymar over a contract renewal bonus. But it has not stopped Barcelona from looking at signing the 28-year-old in the summer after failing to replace him.
