The BBC could be set to broadcast live Premier League football for the first time ever amid plans to make behind-closed-doors games free for fans to watch. 'Project Restart' aims to play out the reminder of the current campaign, which has been postponed for more than two months due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 92 remaining fixtures will be played in empty stadiums if proposals get the green light, and the government are keen for all of them to be available to watch live on television.
Regular Premier League broadcasters Sky Sports and BT Sport were already planning to broadcast 47 of those matches on their channels, but the BBC could now be given access over some of the others.
