Boris Johnson's dad 'amazingly grateful' to NHS as PM out of coronavirus intensive care

Boris Johnson's dad has said the entire family are "amazingly grateful" to NHS staff for their treatment of the PM during his battle against coronavirus in intensive care this week.

But Stanley Johnson has warned that Boris will need a period of rest after being moved from the intensive care unit at St Thomas' Hospital.

Stanley - who is widely known from his appearances on ITV's I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here and later Channel 4's Celebrity Hunted - said the whole family was "amazingly grateful" for the efforts of the NHS and for the huge outpouring of support for his son.

He said the Prime Minister's illness had underlined just how serious the coronavirus outbreak was. "To use that American expression, he almost took one for the team.
