A young woman screaming "stop, stop, stop" stepped in front of Black Lives Matter protesters as objects were being hurled at police.
She bravely tried to head the crowd away from the officers and diffuse tensions by waving her hands and urging people to keep their distance as she shouted "it’s not why we’re here." The demonstrations in London have these weekend seen protesters clash with police, but they have largely been peaceful as people make their voices and emotions heard.
But tonight Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the protests had been "subverted by thuggery". Footage has emerged on social media showing an unsettling incident where police officers appear to be intimidated by protesters outside parliament.
