A Labour MP has resigned as party whip after she was found to have broken lockdown rules to meet up with her married lover. Rose Duffield, the MP for Canterbury and Whitstable, apologised last night after a report from the Mail on Sunday revealed she went for a walk with James Routh in April.
Mr Routh was still living with his wife at the time, and while they observed the two-metre rule on their walk it was still a breach as meetings between different households was not permitted at the time.
The paper also said Ms Duffield, 48, didn't deny that she let Mr Routh visit her at home in Canterbury during the lockdown. "My partner and I have been attempting to navigate a difficult personal situation as responsibly as possible.
