Brit woman, 19, separated from family by coronavirus lockdown finally reunited

A British woman has been reunited with her family after the coronavirus lockdown left her stranded thousands of miles from home.

Eilidh Ashton, 19, is a British citizen but was born in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). She was studying in the UK when the Covid-19 lockdown was introduced in March.

Eilidh was stranded in the UK for a month, unable to return to her family in Abu Dhabi, state news agency WAM reported. "I am very thankful for the government of UAE for bringing me back home to be with my family," she said.

Video shared by state media showed the teenager, wearing a face mask, arriving at Abu Dhabi airport. Her mum Christina Ashton was also wearing a face mask, and the pair shared a "foot shake" instead of a hug to maintain
