Brits face up to ‘£10k fines for breaking 14-day quarantine rules’ when returning to UK

British holidaymakers may face fines of up to £10,000 if they break quarantine rules, reports claim. The government is implementing a strict 14-day isolation period for those returning back to the UK.

These measures will take place in June in the hope that travellers won’t be spreading coronavirus after picking it up abroad.

While some may be tempted to break quarantine, potential punishments should discourage them from doing so. An unnamed Whitehall source told the Daily Telegraph: "We want to send a very clear message to discourage people from breaching quarantine.” There are said to be a few exceptions to these rules.
