An Oireachtas committee is calling on the Government to introduce a fast and safe way to travel to and from North America. The Joint Committee on Transport and Communications Networks has compiled a report urging the coalition to agree a coronavirus testing system with the US and Canada, so that Irish citizens can travel to and from both countries without the need to restrict their movements.
In a report, which the committee will publish today, measures will also be set out on ways to boost recovery in the aviation sector.
The committee is also calling for PCR testing for air passengers to be capped at €50 to encourage take-up. At present, PCR testing is available at Irish airports at a cost of €129.
