Captain Sir Tom Moore tested negative for coronavirus after returning home from a trip to Barbados, his family has confirmed.
Tributes have been pouring in for the 100-year-old World War Two veteran after it was announced he died at Bedford Hospital on Sunday following a short battle with Covid-19 and pneumonia.
He became a national treasure after raising almost £33 million for NHS charities during the pandemic last year. Cruel trolls questioned why Captain Tom and his family had flown to the east Caribbean island in December after news broke he was in hospital with the virus.
But the trip had actually come after England was put into its third lockdown with Captain Tom only testing positive weeks after returning to the UK.
