Captain Tom Moore is set to be knighted following his outstanding fundraising efforts, Downing Street has confirmed. The 100-year-old Second World War veteran raised more than £32m for NHS Charities Together last month just in time for his big birthday.
Mr Moore has become somewhat of a lockdown celebrity after his aim to raise £1,000 by walking 100 laps of his garden at his family home in Bedfordshire went viral.
The milestones kept passing as he continued walking around his garden and by his birthday he had raised more than £30 million.
As a result of his incredible efforts, Mr Moore was promoted to Honorary Colonel, given the Freedom of the City of London, won a Pride of Britain Award and the cricket fan was also made an honorary member
