Carers are being offered a £230 one-off emergency boost to help them through the pandemic.The Scottish Government said the package is worth £19.2 million between 83,000 eligible carers and will be available next month.It follows concern that carers, unpaid and paid, are struggling as vital support is cut off during lockdown.Shirley-Anne Somerville, the SNP government social security secretary, said: “We introduced the Carer’s Allowance Supplement to recognise the important contribution unpaid carers play in our society.“They provide vital support to family, friends and neighbours.
