The Supreme Court on Wednesday allowed the Centre to decide for now repatriation of the 250 Indians, likely to be covid-19 positive, stranded at Qom, Iran.
The apex court division bench, headed by Justice DY Chandrachud said, "let the Centre take a decision on 250 who tested positive soon." He also said, "We are thinking of asking Indian Embassy to constantly monitor the situation, take fresh tests and look into as to when they can be brought back." Senior advocate Sanjay Hegde, appearing for the petitioner, said many of the pilgrims stranded there do not have symptoms and have been asked to stay in hotels where others with symptoms are being quarantined, exposing them to the virus.
