Chelsea win Women's Super League on points per game despite Man City leading league

Chelsea are the new Women's Super League champions despite them being in second place when the season was cancelled. The Blues have picked up their third WSL title in the last five years via the points per game system, which has cruelly denied table-toppers Manchester City the chance to complete their title challenge.

When the season was halted City were top with 40 points from their 16 matches, with Chelsea second on 39 points but possessing one game in hand.

City had four games remaining in their season with Chelsea - who were enjoying an unbeaten campaign - left with five before the decision was taken to curtail the season last month.
