Despite growing concerns over COVID-19, the City of Regina says it isn’t shutting down its public transit system. Ridership has seen a significant drop over the past week, due in large part to the University of Regina cancelling its classes.
The service will continue because of the number of people who don’t have the option to drive. “We want to provide that service because for some people it’s an essential service.
We’ve seen it drop off for many reasons; people are self-isolating, which is a good thing — we want to see them do that,” Regina Mayor Michael Fougere said. “We’re not going to cut that service off.
