As communities across the country buckle down amid the novel coronavirus pandemic, the City of Regina is declaring a local state of emergency.
The move will force the closure of dining areas in restaurants and bars, and limit gatherings to no more than five people. The state of emergency decree will not prevent bars and restaurants from offering takeout and delivery options.
The order will, however, limit all non-essential dental procedures. Gatherings of more than five people will be exempt if they are essential service providers.
Regina Mayor Michael Fougere proposed the motion in a special city council meeting Friday. It was carried unanimously. Fougere says he has spoken with Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe and other government officials
