PHILADELPHIA - Philadelphia, as well as the nation, has seen a recent uptick in gun violence. As a result, city leaders and community members have been working to mitigate the violence.

FOX 29's Good Day Philadelphia was joined by Commissioner Danielle Outlaw who discussed a recent uptick in gun violence across the city.Per police crime statistics, as of June 2021, Philadelphia has seen as many as 250 homicides, which is up 37% over last year.

Furthermore, there has been more murders than both the entire years of 2013 and 2014. In 2020, Philadelphia police reported 499 homicides in total. "We haven't stopped and we're going to continue to pull out all the stops and be as creative as we can to either get ahead of it or to place a tourniquet.

PHILADELPHIA -  A Philadelphia man is now facing attempted homicide charges for his role in a robbery and kidnapping of a man in Upper Southampton Township in March.  Pavel Belous, 36, of Philadelphia, is awaiting trial for allegedly killing a man less than a week before he committed the crime in Bucks County. Belous will be arraigned later Wednesday on two counts of attempted homicide stemming from the March 11, 2021, robbery and kidnapping of the victim. During a preliminary hearing on June 3, 2021, the victim identified Belous as the masked man who entered his car at the McDonald’s parking lot, 338 Second Street Pike in Upper Southampton, at 10:30 p.m.

WEST PHILADELPHIA - Two people were killed and a 3-year-old child was hurt during a triple shooting Saturday afternoon in West Philadelphia, according to police. Officers from the Philadelphia Police Department said all three victims arrived at Penn Presbyterian Hospital just before 2:30 p.m. suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Two 23-year-old men were shot throughout the body and pronounced dead just before 3 p.m., police said. A 3-year-old boy who was shot three times in the right leg is in stable condition, according to police. Authorities did not announce any arrests immediately following the deadly shooting.

WEST PHILADELPHIA - Police say an altercation between a person on a dirt bike and the driver of a car could have lead to a deadly shooting outside a corner store Thursday evening in West Philadelphia. According to investigators, the driver of a Chevy Impala parked near a corner store on 52nd and Girard around 6:30 p.m. As his friend was inside the store, police say someone on a dirt bike pulled up next to the Impala and fired at least six shots.The victim, a 37-year-old man, was struck twice in the head, police said.
