A former semi-professional darts player has told of his heartbreak after his "wife of 48 years" contracted coronavirus and died.
Grief-stricken Geoff Martin urged Britons to take the virus seriously following the death of his partner Susan. He announced her death on Friday in a tweet that has been retweeted or liked more than 200,000 times, as of Saturday morning, and sparked an outpouring of condolences and support.
Mr Martin, from Warrington, Cheshire, wrote on Twitter: "Not many people will see this tweet. "But, it is with a heavy heart I must announce that my wife of 48 years, Susan, lost her battle against the deadly coronavirus [Thursday] night. "I’m devastated. "Please everybody take this virus seriously, that’s all I ask.
