This powerful photograph captures a desperate grandfather meet his grandson for the first time – through a window. The pensioner can be seen in the picture peering through the glass and looking at the newborn, who is being held by his father.
The pair embrace inside on the windowsill alongside congratulations cards, but the heartbreak on the grandfather’s face is clear.
The picture was taken in Ireland, one of multiple countries affected by the coronavirus pandemic. Pensioners across the world have been ordered to self-isolate for months in order to protect themselves from the virus.
