Parents of children who get free school meals will be issued with vouchers to cover the cost of feeding their little ones while they are at home.
The vouchers will be worth £15 a week - working out at £3 a weekday - which is slightly more than schools are paid for meals per child.
However, the new measures won't be coming into force until April, according to Schools Week. The vouchers should work at all major supermarkets and look set to be provided by a third party the Government has hired, head teachers have been told.
It's not clear whether they will work over the holiday period yet. There are 1.3million children in the UK receiving free school meals at the moment.
