The number of reported hospital admissions for coronavirus in Greater Manchester is now higher than at any point since late April, having risen for the second week in a row.
On Tuesday there were 29 new Covid patients admitted to hospital here, according to the mayor, more than any figure he has quoted since April 21.
He said it was ‘too early to call it a trend’ but added that the numbers were ‘a concern’ and were being monitored closely. Hospital deaths have also risen slightly on last week, as have the number of Covid patients in intensive care here.
Leaders have been providing regular updates on coronavirus statistics in Greater Manchester since April and on most measures, those figures have been gradually falling.
