Coronavirus has rocked the globe in recent months but it may just seem like deja vu to anyone who has seen Contagion. The 2011 film, which stars Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow and Matt Damon, follows a normal family man trying to navigate a partial societal collapse after a deadly virus spreads across the world.
The filmmakers set out to make a movie that was as realistic as possible and they accomplished the by consulting numerous real-life experts.
Laurie Garrett, one of those health experts consulted by the filmmakers, said: "Their goal was to try and really show people as accurate a picture that could be conjured, in hopes that it would motivate political leaders to get mobilised." Garrett is the brains behind bestselling book The Coming
