coronavirus may only last six months, a discouraging study has suggested. Researchers at the University of Amsterdam have made this suggestion for people who have survived Covid-19.The team had monitored 10 volunteers for 35 years, testing them every month for four seasonal and weaker coronaviruses. But they found those who had been infected with strains from the same family as the type that causes Covid-19 had "an alarmingly short duration of protective immunity".
They found levels of antibodies dropped by 50 per cent after half a year before disappearing after four years, reports MailOnline.
A statement from the scientists read: "The seasonal coronaviruses are the most representative virus group from which to conclude general coronavirus.
