Coronavirus: Premier League 'eyes August start' for next season amid financial worries

The Premier League is still planning to begin the 2020/21 season in August despite the uncertainty around the current camopaign.

Games have been postponed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic, although the Premier League is hoping to reconvene in late April.

But a provisional date of June now seems more likely with the remaining games set to be crammed into a six week period. Authorities are aware of the financial implications that come with postponing matches and therefore are planning to begin next season as usual, reports the Telegraph.
