Premier League stars have launched a “collective initiative” to help the NHS fight against the coronavirus pandemic. The initiative, named ‘Players Together’, has been set up by top-flight captains across the country to “help those fighting for us on the NHS frontline”.
It comes after the health secretary, Matt Hancock, urged footballers to “play their part” amid the pandemic last week. But Manchester United ace Marcus Rashford insists players took their time in coming up with an initiative to avoid a “backlash”.
