Coronavirus sees UK on 'hold for a year' says government sources

The UK could be on "hold for a year" until a coronavirus vaccine is developed – which could take 18 months. Government sources say the advice to work from home and stay indoors if you have Covid-19 symptoms may still be in place in a year.

Although ministers have debated opening schools and shops in a bid to lift restrictions in a few weeks, senior Government sources have said the only "exit strategy" that would prevent the spread of the deadly bug is to find a cure.

Until then we may have to adjust to a new "normal." The UK has been on a strict lockdown since March 23 and in the recent Cobra meeting last week it was confirmed that the coronavirus lockdown will be extended indefinitely.
