The devastated parents of a "miracle baby" have been told their six-month-old daughter has tested positive for coronavirus. Erin Bates was born six months ago weighing just 5lb 4oz with a heart defect that required surgery, as well as problems with her windpipe.
Brave Erin stood a good chance of recovery after months of treatment, but last week it was confirmed she has coronavirus. Mum Emma Bates, 29, remains at Erin's side as the tot is linked up to an oxygen machine at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool.
But dad Wayne, 32, has had to return home to Bury as only one parent can stay at hispital. The couple believe Erin can overcome the virus as she has already fought "against the odds" so many times.
