Coronavirus: 'Super gran', 94, makes incredible recovery after battling killer disease

A retired nurse dubbed “super gran” has recovered from the killer coronavirus after she spent 10 days in hospital, her family said.

Retired nurse Joy, who’s last name was not given by her family, praised the NHS staff who helped her back to health as she returned to her home in Beccles in Suffolk.

Toby Basil, her 43-year-old grandson, described her as “absolutely incredible”. He added: “We’ve always called her super gran because she’s so resilient.” The supermarket worker spoke to his grandma after she was discharged from James Paget University Hospital in Gorleston in Norfolk on Sunday.
