A woman was turned away from hospital three times before dying shortly after giving birth. Jodian Fearon arrived at the Andrews Memorial Hospital in Kingston, Jamaica on Thursday ready to deliver her first child.
Believing that the 23-year-old had the coronavirus, staff made her leave the privately run hospital. In a statement released after her death, the hospital said she was exhibiting symptoms of Covid-19 which concerned medics, as the hospital does not have an intensive care unit.
At that point in labour, Jodian tried to be admitted to the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI) and the Victoria Jubilee Hospital, which both refused her medical care.
